Dear reader,
I was born in Huế and carried to America at nine — with the Mid-Autumn moon still bright in my memory. I became a teacher, and founded Achieve Education, to give that festival back to the children who came after me. So I wrote down the Tết Trung Thu I grew up with — the star lanterns, the lion dance, the jade rabbit on the moon — in both of our languages.
May it help the next generation carry the moon home, in English and in Tiếng Việt, exactly as it was given to me.
Wherever you are, we're under the same moon.Dù con ở đâu, mình vẫn chung một vầng trăng.
