What they’re saying

In her own words, from the pages writing about her.

“

The brain learns best when it feels safe.

“

Children flourish when someone believes in them before they believe in themselves.

“

The greatest lessons children carry with them rarely fit inside a grading rubric.

Short bio

Kimly Hoang-Nakata is the founder and CEO of Achieve Education, an award-winning children’s book author, and the creator of MindSmart Learning and The Glow Philosophy. Once an immigrant student learning English from picture books, she now helps families and teachers around the world raise confident, whole-child learners.

Full bio

Kimly Hoang-Nakata believes every conversation about education should start with one question: “Tell me about the child.” She is the founder and CEO of Achieve Education, where her MindSmart Learning approach and The Glow Philosophy help parents and teachers nurture the whole child — heart and mind together. Her award-winning bilingual picture books, including Bringing in Tết, Mai’s Story: The Legacy of Áo Dài, and Grandma’s Bánh of Love, celebrate Vietnamese heritage and have earned honors including the International Impact Book Awards and The BookFest Award. Kimly’s own story began as an immigrant student learning English one picture book at a time — an experience that shaped her conviction that the brain learns best when it feels safe, and that children flourish when someone believes in them first.
